UNFAIR OBSTACLES

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®

Concept Statement:

The journey to homeownership is rarely easy. It requires the sacrifice of money, time, even pride. And, often, it takes a fair amount of good fortune to reach the end goal.

But the journey to homeownership can be downright impossible when you throw discrimination, bias and systemic oppression into the mix. Obstacles that aren’t a natural part of the journey, but that are nefarious and man-made.

Navigating the journey to homeownership can feel less like the “American dream” and more like a stress dream. One where the future you want, the future that’s rightfully yours, stretches further and further out of reach. Under all won’t be the land, until housing is fair for all.

Radio Script:

Homeownership is part of the American dream.

But the search can feel like a bad dream

if you’re steered away from the right neighborhood,
reasonable loan options are out of reach
or biases block your chances at a winning offer.

This discrimination is illegal.

And we won’t stand for it.

We are REALTORS®, 1.5 million strong,

who abide by a Code of Ethics

that sets a higher standard for housing fairness than any federal law.

We are the National Association of REALTORS®

and we stand up for what's right.

That’s who we are.
